Rupert Holmes (b. David Goldstein) is a highly acclaimed and veteran English-born American composer, singer-songwriter, dramatist, and author who became famous as a recording artist during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Best known for the laid-back yacht rock chart-topper, "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" (1979), other hits include the lovelorn "Him" (1980). His numerous honors include two Tony Awards for his musical, "The Mystery Of Edwin Drood."
