October 13, 1938) is a veteran Grammy-winning gospel singer (a.k.a. the First Lady of Gospel Music) with a decades-long career that began in 1951 when she made her first recordings at age 12. She made a splash on the charts during the mid 1970s with "No Charge" (1975), an R&B Top 40 hit.
