Sir Chauncey was a musical alter ego of Ernie Freeman (August 16, 1922 - May 16, 1981), a Grammy award-winning pianist, organist, bandleader, and arranger who also had several hits under his own name. He arranged many R&B hits from the 1950s-1970s and was a prolific session musician.
