The Spokesmen were a pop trio from the mid 1960s consisting of Ray Gilmore, John Madara (b. May 28, 1936), and David White (b. November 26, 1939). Gilmore was a longtime radio personality at WIBG 990 AM in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to forming The Spokesmen, White had been a founding member of Danny & The Juniors. With Madara, he co-wrote such oldies classics as "1-2-3" (Len Barry), "At The Hop" (Danny & The Juniors), and "You Don't Own Me" (Lesley Gore).

The Spokesmen are best remembered for the Gilmore/Madara/White-penned "The Dawn Of Correction" (1965), an answer song to Barry McGuire's anti-war chart topper, "Eve Of Destruction." They also released an album by the same name as well as several singles. The Spokesmen had a minor hit in 1966 with a cover of The Beatles' "Michelle" before disbanding.

John Madara and David White continued on as a songwriting and producing team and were an important part of the then-emerging Philly Sound. Ray Gilmore later became a DJ in the Boston area on WHDH, WROR-FM, and WPLM-FM, working under the name, Sean Casey, before retiring from broadcasting in 2008.
