Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE (b. October 2, 1951), known as Sting, is a highly acclaimed English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. Prior to going solo in 1985, he was the main songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for The Police (1977-1984).
