T. Rex was a highly acclaimed English rock band formed in 1967 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Marc Bolan (September 30, 1947 - September 16, 1977). The band is best known for such hits as "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" (1971), which topped the U.K. charts and made the U.S. Top 10.
