Tex Williams (August 23, 1917 - October 11, 1985) was a country music singer and songwriter who became famous beginning in the late 1940s and appeared in several Westerns. His best known songs include the original version of "Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! (That Cigarette)," a catchy, upbeat novelty tune that topped both the Pop and Country charts in 1948. This song was later remade in 1973 by Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen.
