Vaughn Horton (June 5, 1911 - February 29, 1988, b. George Vaughn Horton) was a highly acclaimed songwriter, guitarist, and bandleader who became famous during the late 1940s. As a performing artist, his best known songs include "Toolie Oolie Doolie (The Yodel Polka)" (1948, credited as Vaughn Horton & His Polka Debs), an English language adaptation of a 1944 song in German by Artur Beul. Horton's numerous songwriting credits for other artists include "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie," "Hillbilly Fever," "Sugar-Foot Rag," "Mockin' Bird Hill," and the Christmas song, "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas." He was elected to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1971.
