The Vontastics were a ca. mid 1960s R&B/soul group from Chicago consisting of Bobby Lee Newsome, Raymond Penn, and lead singers Kenneth Gholar and Jose Holmes. They are best remembered for their upbeat, horn-driven R&B remake of The Beatles' "Day Tripper " (1966).
