ABOUT
What Is This was a ca. mid 1980s rock band formed by students at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, CA. They are best known for their 1985 cover of The Spinners' "I'll Be Around." Members included, at various times, Red Hot Chili Peppers co-founders Michael "Flea" Balzary (trumpet), Jack Irons (drums), Anthony Kiedis (vocals), and guitarist Hillel Slovak (April 13, 1962 - June 25, 1988).
