Willie Henderson is a veteran R&B/soul saxophonist and producer who became famous during the early 1970s. He is best known for the instrumental dance hits, "Funky Chicken, (Part 1)" (1970, as Willie Henderson & The Soul Explosions) and "Dance Master Pt. I" (1974), which both made the R&B Top 40 and became his biggest Pop/Rock crossover successes. Henderson' "Funky Chicken" and "Do the Funky Chicken" by Rufus Thomas are different songs, although they share a similar theme related to the dance craze of the same name.
