The Wombles were a ca. mid 1970s English novelty pop group formed by songwriter and producer, Mike Batt, made up of musicians dressed as the furry characters from the children's TV show, "The Wombles." They are best known in the U.S. for the 1974 hit, "Wombling Summer Party."
