ABOUT
Barry & The Tamerlanes were a doo-wop group led by singer, songwriter, producer, and composer Barry De Vorzon (b. July 31, 1934) that became famous during the early 1960s. They are best known for the De Vorzon-penned "I Wonder What She's Doing Tonight" (1963), a Top 40 hit on both the R&B and Pop/Rock charts (not to be confused with the similarly-titled 1967 smash by Boyce & Hart). In addition to De Vorzon, Barry & The Tamerlanes' lineup also consisted of Terry Smith and Bodie Chandler. The trio had one other hit in 1964 with "Roberta" before disbanding.
A prolific songwriter, Barry De Vorzon wrote/co-wrote such oldies classics as Marty Robbins' "Just Married" (1958), Johnny Burnette's "Dreamin'" (1960), and Dorsey Burnette's "Hey, Little One" (1960). His many soundtracks include the Grammy-nominated "Bless The Beasts And Children," composed with Perry Botkin Jr., that led to the Carpenters' 1971 hit rendition of the movie title song and later spawned the Grammy-winning "Nadia's Theme (The Young And The Restless)" (1976), a Top 10 hit and theme for the same-named soap opera.
