ABOUT

John Fogerty (b. 1945) is a highly acclaimed and veteran singer, songwriter, and guitarist with iconic powerful, raspy vocals who first became famous during the late 1960s as the founder of the famed rock band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, for which he served as lead singer, lead guitarist, and main songwriter. As a solo artist, he first recorded as The Blue Ridge Rangers and under that moniker, had two Top 40 hits with "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)" (1972) and "Hearts Of Stone" (1973). Best known for "The Old Man Down The Road" (1984), other top hits under his own name include "Rockin' All Over The World" (1975) and "Rock And Roll Girls" (1985).

Born John Cameron Fogerty in Berkeley, California and raised in El Cerrito, he formed a covers band while in junior high school in 1959 known as The Blue Velvets that also consisted of bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford. Fogerty's older brother Tom joined the group soon after as rhythm guitarist, and the quartet later changed its name to The Golliwogs before finally settling on Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1967. After CCR disbanded in late 1972, Fogerty went on to a highly successful solo career that has continued to the present day. His numerous honors and accolades include being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005 and, with CCR, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
