ABOUT

Bobby Goldsboro (b. 1941) is a veteran pop/country singer, songwriter, and guitarist who became famous during the 1960s and early 1970s. He is best known internationally for the poignant "Honey" (1968), which topped the Pop/Rock, Country, and Adult Contemporary charts and became the top-selling record worldwide in 1968. His many other signature songs include "See The Funny Little Clown" (1964), "Little Things" (1965), "Autumn Of My Life" (1968), and "Watching Scotty Grow" (1970), the latter of which topped the Adult Contemporary chart.

Born Robert Charles Goldsboro in Marianna, Florida, he began in high school as a member of a local act known as Spider & The Webbs and continued performing with the group semi-professionally while in college. The Webbs soon after became Roy Orbison's backup band, and Goldsboro left college after his second year to pursue a music career full time as a member of the group. Goldsboro was discovered by independent producer Jack Gold when some of his songs, performed by The Webbs, came to his attention. After debuting on the Pop/Rock charts in 1962 with "Molly," Goldsboro's career took off in early 1964 with the Top 10 smash, "See The Funny Little Clown." His final Pop/Rock Top 40 came in 1973 with the evocative "Summer (The First Time)," which also became a big hit in the U.K. and many other countries around the world. His long string of hits continued on the Country charts through early 1982.

At the height of his commercial fame, Bobby Goldsboro made numerous TV appearances and hosted "The Bobby Goldsboro Show" from 1973-1976. He composed the music for the early 1990s TV sitcom, "Evening Shade," and in 1995, he created the children's TV series, "The Swamp Critters of Lost Lagoon." He also created several animated specials and children's books.
