Davie Allan And The Arrows - Songs

ABOUT

Davie Allan is a veteran rock guitarist with a signature hard-driving, fuzz guitar sound famous for his work on the soundtracks to a number of biker movies from the late 1960s. With his backing band, The Arrows, he is best known for the 1967 instrumental smash, "Blue's Theme," as featured in the cult classic, "The Wild Angels" (1966), starring Peter Fonda.

Allan began playing the guitar in his teens and formed his first band with Mike Curb (later of "Burning Bridges" fame) whom he had met while both were students at Grant High School in Los Angeles. In 1963, Allan released his first single, "War Path," on Curb's newly-formed label and recorded a number of other singles under different group names. Allan then continued his work with Curb as a session musician and soon after landed a recording contract along with The Arrows.

Davie Allan & The Arrows debuted in 1965 on the Pop/Rock charts with "Apache '65," a remake of Jorgen Ingmann's 1961 surf rock smash. Allan's next hit followed in 1966 with the Mike Curb-penned "Theme From The Wild Angels" before his fame took off the following year with the fiery "Blue's Theme" (1967), another Curb-penned song from the soundtrack to "The Wild Angels." Allan's final charting song came in 1967 with "Devil's Angels," the title theme to the 1967 biker movie starring John Cassavetes.

During his commercial peak in the late 1960s, Davie Allan recorded guitar instrumentals for dozens of other movies including "Born Losers," "The Glory Stompers," "Riot On Sunset Strip," "Thunder Alley," and "Wild In The Streets" and released several studio albums. He had a resurgence in popularity beginning in 1994 with the critically acclaimed "Loud, Loose And Savage," a compilation of songs he had recorded over the past 10 years. He has since then continued to perform and record to the present day with a new Arrows backing band and has amassed a loyal following.
