ABOUT

Mac Davis (January 21, 1942 - September 29, 2020) was a highly acclaimed country/pop singer, songwriter, and actor with a great deal of crossover appeal who became famous during the early 1970s. He is best known for "Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me" (1972), which topped both the Adult Contemporary and Pop/Rock charts, made the Country Top 40, and soon after went gold. Other big hits include "One Hell Of A Woman" (1974), and "Stop And Smell The Roses" (1974).

A prolific songwriter, Mac Davis penned a number of hits for Elvis Presley that include such classics as "A Little Less Conversation," "Memories," "In The Ghetto," "Clean Up Your Own Back Yard," and "Don't Cry Daddy." His songs have also been recorded by such artists as Vikki Carr, Gallery, Bobby Goldsboro, O.C. Smith, and Kenny Rogers & The First Edition. Davis hosted his own variety show from 1974-1976 and starred in a Broadway musical and many movies and TV shows.
