Magic Lanterns - Songs

ABOUT

The Magic Lanterns were an English pop/soft rock group with close-knit harmonies that became famous during the late 1960s. Best known in the U.S. for the catchy Top 40 smash, "Shame, Shame" (1968), other hits include "One Night Stand" (1971) and "Country Woman" (1972, billed as The Magic Lantern).

Formed in Warrington, Cheshire in 1962 and first known as The Sabres, the classic hitmaking lineup consisted of Alistair Beveridge (guitar), Peter Garner (guitar), Mike "Oz" Osborne (bass), Henry Paul Ward (drums), and lead singer/guitarist Jimmy Bilsbury (November 2, 1942 - March 10, 2003), who all shared vocals. By early 1970, Bilsbury had left the group to co-found the Les Humphries Singers, and most of the other members departed soon after. The Magic Lanterns released 3 albums and several singles before finally disbanding in 1972.
