Marcie Blane - Songs

ABOUT

Marcie Blane (b. 1944) is a former pop singer who became famous during the early 1960s while in her late teens. Born Marcia Blank in Brooklyn, New York into a musical family, she began her short-lived career as a recording artist by accident when a songwriting friend asked her to record a demo of one of his songs for Seville Records. The song was "Bobby's Girl," a girl group-styled oldies classic released in late 1962 which became a Top 5 hit on the Pop/Rock charts, made the R&B Top 20, and soon after went gold. This smash inspired The Sherry Sisters' answer song, "Stay Away From Bobby."

Blane followed up with the then-risque "What Does A Girl Do?" (1963) and also recorded a German version, "Wer Einmal A Gesagt." Her final charting song came in late 1963 with "You Gave My Number To Billy." By the mid 1960s, she had left the music business to focus on her studies at Queens College and later went on to become a music and arts educator in New York.
