ABOUT
Mott The Hoople was a highly acclaimed English glam/hard rock band that became famous during the early 1970s. They are best known for the anthemic David Bowie-penned "All The Young Dudes" (1972), in which Bowie also provided backing vocals. This classic rock staple is included in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and is also one of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll.
Formed in 1969 in Hereford, Herefordshire, the original lineup consisted of Verden Allen (organ, vocals), Mick Ralphs (guitar, vocals, organ, synthesizers), drummer Dale "Buffin" Griffin (October 24, 1948 - January 17, 2016), bassist Pete Overend Watts (May 13, 1947 - January 22, 2017), and lead singer Ian Hunter (guitar, piano, harmonica, bass), with many personnel changes. Ralphs left the band in 1973 to form Bad Company, and Hunter departed in 1974 and was replaced by Nigel Benjamin. After the band's split in 1980, they reunited several times over the years.
