Ned Miller (April 12, 1925 - March 18, 2016) was a highly acclaimed country singer-songwriter who became famous during the early 1960s. He is best known for "From A Jack To A King" (1962), which reached #2 on the Country charts and became his biggest crossover success, making the Pop/Rock Top 10. His long string of hits on the Country charts, which continued through 1970, also includes "Do What You Do Do Well" (1965), "Whistle Walkin'" (1965), and "The Lover's Song" (1970).
Born Henry Ned Miller in Rains, Utah, he began writing songs at age 16 and later served in World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps. Miller's many songs have been covered by such top artists as Elvis Presley, Bing Crosby, Bobby Darin, Jim Reeves, Connie Smith, Gail Storm, Bonnie Guitar, and Jimmy C. Newman. His signature song, "From A Jack To A King," topped the Country charts many years later in 1989 for Ricky Van Shelton.
