ABOUT
Tony Clarke (April 13, 1940 - August 28, 1971, b. Ralph Thomas Williams) was a soul singer and songwriter with a great deal of crossover appeal who became famous during the mid 1960s. Best known for the self-penned "The Entertainer" (1965), he also wrote songs for other artists that included the Etta James 1963 hits, "Pushover" and "Two Sides (To Every Story)." During the 1970s, Clarke had a resurgence in popularity in the U.K. among fans of Northern soul.
