Golden Earring was a veteran Dutch rock band that became famous during the mid-late 1970s and early 1980s. They achieved international fame in 1974 with the hard-driving "Radar Love," which topped the Dutch charts, became a Top 10 hit in many countries worldwide, and made the U.S. Top 20. In the U.S., Golden Earring is better known for the Top 10 smash, "Twilight Zone" (1982), an intense new wave rocker inspired by the spy thriller novel, "The Bourne Identity," not the eerie title theme from the 1960s sci-fi TV series.

Formed in 1961 in The Hague and first known as The Tornados, the classic hitmaking lineup consisted of Rinus Gerritsen (bass), George Kooymans (guitar), Cesar Zuiderwijk (drums), and lead singer Barry Hay. Golden Earring has a long string of hits on the Dutch charts from 1969-2012 that includes some 30 Top 10 hits, and the band released 25 studio albums. In 2021, the band's manager announced that their active career was over due to Kooymans being diagnosed with ALS. They are scheduled to perform a series of farewell concerts in Rotterdam in January, 2026.
