ABOUT

Clint Holmes (b. 1946) is an English-born pop singer-songwriter, Las Vegas entertainer, and TV announcer who became famous as a recording artist during the early 1970s. He is best known for his smash cover of the Paul Vance/Lee Pockriss-penned "Playground In My Mind" (1973), a nursery rhyme-styled duet featuring vocals by Vance's then-seven-year-old son Philip.

Born in Bournemouth, England into a musical family, he was raised in Farnham, New York. He enrolled at Fredonia State College as a vocal music student but left school for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He served in the U.S. Army Chorus during his three-year enlistment (1967-1969) and then remained in the Washington, D.C. area to launch his music career, where he became locally famous singing in nightclubs.

Holmes achieved national recognition in 1973 with "Playground In My Mind," which topped the Canadian charts, reached #2 on the U.S. charts, and soon after went gold. He later became a prominent figure in Las Vegas entertainment, headlining at Harrah's Casino. In addition to his music career, Holmes served as the announcer for "The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers" and hosted his own Emmy-winning talk show, "New York At Night."
