Eddie Holman - Songs

ABOUT

Eddie Holman (b. 1946) is a highly acclaimed and veteran R&B/soul singer with a great deal of crossover appeal who became famous during the late 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for the melancholic and soulful smash ballad, "Hey There Lonely Girl" (1969), an adaptation of "Hey There Lonely Boy" by Ruby & The Romantics that showcases his soaring falsetto. This soul classic, which made the Top 5 on both the Pop/Rock charts and became a million-seller, also topped the Canadian charts and became a Top 5 hit in the U.K. four years after its original release in the U.S. and Canada.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, Holman began singing as a child and performed regularly on NBC's "The Children's Hour." In 1962, while still in his teens, he recorded his first single, "What You Don't Know Won't Hurt You." His fame began to take off in 1966 with "This Can't Be True," the first of many hits on both the R&B and Pop/Rock charts through 1977 that also include "This Can't Be True" (1966), "Hey There Lonely Girl" (1969), "Don't Stop Now" (1970), "Since I Don't Have You" (1970), and "This Will Be A Night To Remember" (1977). He was inducted into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 2016.

In addition to his music career, Eddie Holman is an ordained Baptist minister and has his own record label, Agape Records, and music publishing company, Schoochiebug Music Publishing ASCAP.
