ABOUT
Desmond Dekker (July 16, 1941 - May 25, 2006, b. Desmond Adolphus Dacres) was a highly acclaimed and influential Jamaican ska, rocksteady, and reggae singer-songwriter who became famous during the late 1960s and early 1970s. He is best known internationally for the catchy "Israelites" (1969, with his backing group, The Aces), which topped the U.K. charts and made the U.S. Top 10. Other hits include his cover of Jimmy Cliff's "You Can Get It If You Really Want" (1970).
