ABOUT
El Chicano is a veteran brown-eyed soul group blending rock, funk, soul, blues, jazz, and salsa that became famous during the early 1970s. Best known for the jazzy soul rock instrumental smash, "Viva Tirado - Part I" (1970), other hits include their remake of Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" (1972) and the funky "Tell Her She's Lovely" (1973).
Formed in 1969 in Los Angeles by organist Bobby Espinosa (April 29, 1949 - February 27, 2010) and Freddie Sanchez (bass), other original members included Mickey Lespron (guitar), Andre Baeza (congas), and lead singer Ersi Arvisu, with a number of personnel changes and additions over the years. El Chicano has continued to perform actively to the present day.
