ABOUT
Electric Light Orchestra (a.k.a. ELO) is a highly acclaimed and veteran English progressive rock band incorporating classical music elements into its unique sound that became famous beginning in the early 1970s. Their best known songs include "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" (1974), "Evil Woman" (1975), "Telephone Line" (1977), "Shine A Little Love" (1979), "Don't Bring Me Down" (1979), and "Xanadu" (1980, with Olivia Newton-John).
Formed in 1970 in Birmingham, England by songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood and drummer Bev Bevan, the band quickly rose to fame in the 1970s with their innovative symphonic rock style and live performances often featuring rock instruments alongside a full string section. ELO has continued to perform and record actively to the present day, with many personnel changes and additions over the years. The band's numerous honors and accolades include being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017.
