ABOUT
Frankie Ford (August 4, 1939 - September 28, 2015) was a rock & roll/R&B/pop singer with an exuberant style who became famous during the late 1950s. He is best known for the rollicking oldies dance classic, "Sea Cruise" (1959), a remake of a song written and first recorded by Huey "Piano" Smith in which various overdubbed ships' noises can be heard throughout.
Born Vincent Francis Guzzo, Jr. in Gretna, Louisiana, he sang and danced as a child and joined a local pop group while in high school, serving as a singer and pianist. He was discovered by manager Joe Caronna, which led to a contract with Ace in 1958. Known for his dynamic on-stage persona, Ford continued to perform and record actively through the early 2010s. He was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
