The Grass Roots - Songs

ABOUT

The Grass Roots are a veteran pop/rock band with an infectious, upbeat sound that became famous during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Best known for the rousing Top 5 smash, "Midnight Confessions" (1968), their long string of hits, covering folk rock, blue-eyed soul, psychedelic pop, pop rock, and sunshine pop, also includes the era-defining "Let's Live For Today" (1967), the imploring "I'd Wait A Million Years" (1969), the evocative "Temptation Eyes" (1970), and the catchy "Sooner Or Later" (1971).

Formed in 1965 by producer Lou Adler and the Los Angeles songwriter/producer duo, P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri, the original lineup was a trio consisting of members of the San Francisco-based group, The Bedouins: Denny Ellis (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), David Stensen (bass, backing vocals), and lead singer Willie Fulton (lead guitar). Since their founding, The Grass Roots have had numerous personnel changes and additions over the years, with major lineup changes taking place in 1967 and 1971. Key early members include lead singer/bassist Rob Grill, who came on board in 1967 and remained up to his passing in 2011 - along with Creed Bratton (lead guitar, vocals), Rick Coonce (drums, percussion), Warren Entner (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards), Joel Larson (drums), and Dennis Provisor (vocals, keyboards), who served at various times at the height of the band's commercial fame.

The Grass Roots are among rock music's top-selling oldies acts, with sales of over 20 million records worldwide. Their many recordings include two gold albums and two gold singles. They have continued to perform actively to the present day with a current lineup consisting of all-new members.
