ABOUT
Gunhill Road (aka Gun Hill Road) is a veteran rock band that became famous during the early 1970s. They are best known for the upbeat honky-tonk ballad, "Back When My Hair Was Short" (1973), a Top 40 hit.
Formed in 1969 in Mount Vernon, New York, the original lineup consisted of Steve Goldrich (piano), Glenn Leopold (guitar), and Gil Roman (bass) who was replaced in 1973 by Paul Reisch. The band was named after a major thoroughfare in the Bronx that serves as a north-south divide for the borough. At the height of their commercial fame, Gunhill Road released two albums, appeared on "American Bandstand," "Midnight Special," and other TV shows, and opened for such acts as George Carlin, Harry Chapin, Cheech & Chong, Jim Croce, Robert Klein, Gordon Lightfoot, Bette Midler, Poco, John Sebastian, Soupy Sales, and Lily Tomlin. The current lineup includes original/early members Steve Goldrich and Paul Reisch.
