J. Geils Band - Songs

ABOUT

The J. Geils Band was a veteran rock group led by guitarist John "J." Geils (February 20, 1946 - April 11, 2017) that became famous beginning in the mid 1970s. They started out playing mainly R&B-influenced blues rock before switching to a more mainstream sound in the early 1980s when they reached their commercial peak. Best known for the chart-topping power pop classic, "Centerfold" (1981), other big hits include the funky "Must Of Got Lost" (1974), the hilarious "Love Stinks" (1980), and the exuberant "Freeze-Frame" (1982).

Formed in 1967, in Worcester, Massachusetts by Geils, the original lineup also included Stephen Jo Bladd (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Seth Justman (keyboards, backing vocals), Danny Klein (bass), Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz (harmonica, saxophone, trumpet), and lead singer Peter Wolf (percussion), who also served as one of the band's main songwriters along with Justman. After Wolf left the band in 1983 to pursue a solo career, Justman took over as lead singer up to the band's split in 1985. Beginning in 1999, the band had several reunions over the years up to the passing of Geils in 2017.
