Jefferson - Songs

ABOUT

Geoffrey Turton (b. 1944), who also recorded under the name Jefferson, is a veteran pop/rock English singer who became famous as a solo artist during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Best known in the U.S. and Canada for "Baby Take Me In Your Arms" (1969), which made the Top 40 in both countries, other songs include "The Colour Of My Love" (1969), a minor U.S. hit that made the U.K. Top 40.

Born in Birmingham, Turton began in 1961 as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of The Rockin' Berries, a beat group so named because they often performed Chuck Berry songs in their set. After the group disbanded in 1968, he launched a solo career as Jefferson and continued to tour and record under that name up to the late 1970s when he rejoined The Rockin' Berries. He continued to perform both solo (under his real name) and with the band through the 1990s and beyond.
