ABOUT
The Joe Jeffrey Group was a short-lived R&B band with a smooth, pop-infused sound that became famous during the late 1960s. Best known for the upbeat and catchy Top 20 smash, "My Pledge Of Love" (1969), they also had minor hits with "Dreamin' Till Then" (1969), "Hey Hey Woman" (1969), and "My Baby Loves Lovin'" (1970), the latter song made famous by White Plains.
Led by Cleveland, Ohio-based singer/guitarist Joe Jeffrey (b. Joseph Stafford Jr., d. September 4, 2016, age 80), the lineup also consisted of Al Russ (bass), Charles Perry (percussion), and Ron Browning (drums). After the group's commercial peak in the late 1960s-early 1970s following the success of "My Pledge Of Love," Jeffrey continued performing locally in the Cleveland area as a solo artist throughout the 1970s and beyond.
