John Denver - Songs

ABOUT

John Denver (December 31, 1943 - October 12, 1997, b. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr.) was a highly beloved country/folk rock singer-songwriter with an earnest, wholesome style who became famous during the 1970s and was one of that decade's top selling artists. His best known songs include "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (1971), "Sunshine On My Shoulders" (1974), "Annie's Song" (1974), "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" (1975), and "I'm Sorry" (1975), which all topped the charts.

John Denver's long string of hits continued on both the Adult Contemporary and Pop/Rock charts through the mid 1980s, and he continued to record into the 1990s. He appeared in a number of movies and TV specials during the 1970s and 1980s and co-starred with George Burns in "Oh, God!" (1977). An avid pilot, his career and life were cut short in 1997 in a single-fatality plane crash into Monterey Bay on the California coast.
