ABOUT

Best known as the longtime TV talk show host of "The Mike Douglas Show," Mike Douglas (August 11, 1925 - August 11, 2006, b. Michael Delaney Dowd Jr.) began his decades-long career in show business as a Big Band era singer. He sang with Kay Kyser's Band from 1945-1950 and was the featured vocalist on Kyser's chart-topping "Ole Buttermilk Sky" (1946), which showcases Douglas' warm and inviting baritone vocals. He rose to fame as a solo artist during the mid 1960s with the heartfelt and mostly-spoken ballad, "The Men In My Little Girl's Life" (1965).

A multi-faceted entertainer, Mike Douglas made many appearances over the years on TV and in the movies. His numerous honors and accolades include an Emmy Award for Outstanding Daytime Performance (1967). The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia inducted him posthumously into their Hall of Fame in 2006.
