ABOUT

Shelby Flint (b. 1939) is a veteran folk/pop singer-songwriter with a crystal clear soprano who became famous during the early 1960s. Best known for the wistful self-penned ballad, "Angel On My Shoulder" (1960), other hits include her sung cover of Vince Guaraldi's jazz instrumental, "Cast Your Fate To The Wind" (1966).

Born in North Hollywood, California, she released her first single in 1958 on Cadence Records, "I Will Love You," before moving to Valient in 1961. She sang in several movies including "Snoopy Come Home" (1972), "Breezy" (1973), and Disney's "The Rescuers" (1977). Her performance of "Someone's Waiting For You" in the latter film earned her an Academy Award nomination in 1977 for Best Original Song. Joni Mitchell cites Shelby Flint as a major influence during her early career when she began making the rounds of the folk music circuit.
