Tompall Glaser - Songs

ABOUT

Tompall Glaser (September 3, 1933 - August 12, 2013) was a country singer-songwriter and a key figure in the 1970s outlaw country movement. He is best known for the humorous Shel Silverstein-penned "Put Another Log On The Fire (Male Chauvinist National Anthem)" (1975, recorded as Tompall), a Top 40 Country chart hit and his biggest Pop/Rock crossover success.

Born Thomas Paul Glaser in Spalding, Nebraska, he began in the 1950s recording as a solo artist and also performed and recorded with his brothers, Chuck and Jim Glaser. During the late 1950s, the trio served as backup singers for Marty Robbins. In the 1960s, they recorded and toured with Johnny Cash and became members of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1970, the Glaser brothers were named Vocal Group of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards. They recorded many albums and had a long string of hits on the Country charts through the early 1980s that included their version of Kris Kristofferson's "Lovin' Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)" (1981), which peaked at #2.

Along with Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Jessi Colter, Tompall Glaser was one of the main featured artists on the CMA award-winning album, "Wanted! The Outlaws" (1976), which topped the Country charts and went platinum. He recorded many other albums over the years that also included "Tompall Glaser & His Outlaw Band" (1977), "The Wonder of It All" (1977), and "Outlaw To The Cross" (2007).
