Wilbert Harrison (January 5, 1929 - October 26, 1994) was an R&B singer, pianist, guitarist, and harmonica player who became famous during the late 1950s and 1960s. Best known for his smash cover of the Jerry Leiber/Mike Stoller-penned "Kansas City" (1959), which topped both the R&B and Pop/Rock charts and went gold, other hits include the self-penned "Let's Work Together - Part 1" (1969), which also became a hit for Canned Heat. An earlier version by Harrison was recorded in 1962 titled "Let's Stick Together."

Born Wilbert Huntington Harrison in Charlotte, North Carolina, he began his music career in the early 1950s after having served in the Navy. Harrison's fame soared in 1959 with "Kansas City," an R&B classic named as one of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock & Roll which was given a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2001. Throughout his career, Wilbert Harrison recorded for various labels and toured extensively. He was inducted posthumously into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
