ABOUT
The Bobby Fuller Four were a popular but relatively short-lived rock & roll band with a style reminiscent of Buddy Holly that became famous during the mid 1960s. Best known for the rollicking Top 10 smash, "I Fought The Law" (1966), other hits include "Love's Made A Fool Of You" (1966). Written and originally recorded in 1959 by Sonny Curtis of The Crickets, the Bobby Fuller Four version of "I Fought The Law" was included in the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and named one of the 500 Songs that Shaped Rock by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Formed in 1962 in El Paso, Texas by lead singer/guitarist Bobby Fuller (October 22, 1942 - July 18, 1966), the classic hitmaking lineup also included Fuller's younger brother, bassist Randy Fuller (January 29, 1944 - May 16, 2024), and guitarist Jim Reese (December 7, 1941 - October 26, 1991), along with drummers Dalton Powell (b. 1942) and DeWayne Quirico (b. 1942) who both served at various times with The Bobby Fuller Four at the height of their commercial fame. In July 1966, Bobby Fuller died under mysterious circumstances then officially ruled a suicide by police, and the group disbanded soon after.
