ABOUT

Brian Hyland (b. 1943) is a veteran pop singer, multi-instrumentalist, and former teen idol who became famous beginning in the early 1960s. He is best known for the Paul Vance/Lee Pockriss-penned novelty chart-topper, "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini" (1960), which became a million-seller. Other big hits include the yearning "Sealed With A Kiss" (1962) and the evocative "Gypsy Woman" (1970), which both made the Pop/Rock Top 5 and also became million-sellers.

Born in Queens, New York, he sang in his church choir and played the guitar and clarinet as a child and in the late 1950s, landed his first recording contract with Kapp Records while still in his mid teens. At the height of his commercial fame, Hyland appeared on such TV programs as "American Bandstand" and "The Jackie Gleason Show" and toured both internationally and in the U.S. with Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars. Throughout his career, he released many albums and experimented with various musical styles, including bubblegum pop, folk rock, and country. Despite a decline in popularity during the British Invasion, he continued to record and perform over the years, showcasing his versatility as an artist. Hyland has remained active in the music industry up to the present day.
