ABOUT
Focus is a veteran Dutch progressive rock band that became famous during the early 1970s. They are best known worldwide for the hard-driving, maniacal instrumental smash, "Hocus Pocus" (1973), featuring wild yodeling, whistling, and gibberish.
Formed in Amsterdam in 1969 by keyboardist, vocalist, and flutist Thijs van Leer, drummer Hans Cleuver, bassist Martijn Dresden, and guitarist Jan Akkerman, the band has had numerous personnel changes over the years. Since late 2016, the lineup has consisted of Van Leer, drummer Pierre van der Linden, guitarist Menno Gootjes, and bassist Udo Pannekeet. Focus has continued to perform and record actively to the present day.
