The Hues Corporation - Songs

ABOUT

The Hues Corporation was a male-female R&B/pop group that became famous during the mid 1970s. They are best known for the era-defining dance classic, "Rock The Boat" (1974), which topped the Pop/Rock charts, made the R&B Top 5, became a million-seller, and helped launch the disco era.

Formed in 1969 in Santa Monica, California, the classic hitmaking lineup consisted of Hubert Ann Kelley (April 24, 1947 - July 20, 2023), St. Clair Lee (April 24, 1944 - March 8, 2011), and lead singer Fleming Williams (December 26, 1943 - February 15, 1998), with a number of personnel changes over the years. Initially, they performed as an opening act for such top artists as Frank Sinatra and Glen Campbell before signing with RCA. In addition to "Rock The Boat," their hits include "Freedom For The Stallion" (1973), "Rockin' Soul" (1974), "Love Corporation" (1975), and "I Caught Your Act" (1977). The Hues Corporation disbanded around 1980 and, with the renewed popularity of disco music in the 1990s, they reunited for tour dates and special events. They were among the featured performers in the 2004 PBS special, "Get Down Tonight: The Disco Explosion."
