King Floyd - Songs

ABOUT

King Floyd (February 13, 1945 - March 6, 2006) was a highly acclaimed R&B/soul singer and songwriter who became famous during the early 1970s. Best known for the funky "Groove Me" (1970), which topped the R&B charts and made the Pop/Rock Top 10, other hits include "Baby Let Me Kiss You" (1971) and "Woman Don't Go Astray" (1972).

Born King Floyd III in New Orleans, Louisiana, he began performing as a young man at the city's Sho-Bar on Bourbon Street. After serving in the U.S. Army, he moved to California where he worked with producer and fellow New Orleans native, Harold Battiste, who produced Floyd's debut album, "A Man In Love" (1969), which did not fare well on the charts. After returning to New Orleans, his fame took off in 1970 with "Groove Me," which was followed by a string of hits on both the R&B and Pop/Rock charts through the late 1970s. Floyd continued to perform and record through the early 2000s.
