ABOUT
Paul Evans (b. 1938) is a veteran rock & roll, pop, and country singer and songwriter who became famous during the late 1950s and early 1960s. As a recording artist, he is best known for the novelty Top 10 smash, "Seven Little Girls Sitting In The Back Seat" (1959) and "Happy-Go-Lucky-Me" (1960), the latter of which also made the Top 10. Other hits include "The Brigade Of Broken Hearts" (1960) and his rendition of the folk standard, "Midnite Special" (1960).
Born in Queens, New York, Paul Evans began in his late teens as a part of the famous Brill Building community that also included Neil Sedaka and such legendary songwriting teams as Jeff Barry/Ellie Greenwich, Gerry Goffin/Carole King, and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil. Over his long career, Evans wrote/co-wrote numerous songs for other artists that include such oldies classics as Bobby Vinton's "Roses Are Red (My Love)," Elvis Presley's "The Next Step Is Love," and The Kalin Twins' "When."
