Roy Head (January 9, 1941 - September 21, 2020) was a highly acclaimed and veteran rock/country singer, songwriter, and guitarist known for his dynamic performances who became famous during the mid 1960s. Best known for the soulful "Treat Her Right" (1965, with The Traits), which reached #2 on both the R&B and Pop/Rock charts, other hits include "Just A Little Bit" (1965) and "Apple Of My Eye" (1965). He later had a long string of hits on the Country charts from 1974-1985 that includes the Top 20 smash, "Come To Me" (1977).

Born Roy Kent Head in Three Rivers, Texas, he moved to San Marcos in 1955 where he formed The Traits with fellow high school student Tommy Bolton in 1957 while still in his teens. The group became popular locally in the late 1950s and early 1960s before achieving international fame with the 1965 smash, "Treat Her Right," co-written by Head and Gene Kurtz. Head's career spanned over five decades, during which he explored a variety of musical genres that included R&B, blue-eyed soul, country, rock & roll, and rockabilly. Roy Head & The Traits reunited in 2001 and 2007 and were inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 2007. He released one final album, "Still Treatin' 'Em Right," in 2011.
