ABOUT
The Ides of March is a veteran jazz rock band that became famous during the early 1970s. They are best known for the intense, horn-driven "Vehicle" (1970), a Top 5 smash and a million-seller.
Formed in Berwyn, Illinois in 1964 and originally known as the The Shon-Dels, the classic hitmaking lineup consisted of Bob Bergland (bass guitar, tenor saxophone, vocals), Mike Borch (drums, percussion, vocals), Ray Herr (bass guitar, rhythm guitar, vocals), John Larson (trumpet, flugelhorn), Larry Millas (rhythm guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, vocals), Chuck Soumar (trumpet, percussion, vocals), and lead singer/lead guitarist Jim Peterik (keyboards), who wrote the The Ides of March's signature song, "Vehicle." From 1973-1990, the band went on an extended hiatus, during which Peterik co-founded Survivor and co-wrote all of their biggest hits. The Ides of March reformed in 1990 with many of their original members and have performed and recorded actively to the present day, with a number of personnel changes over the years.
