- Beginning her singing career in church and school, Canadian-born Shirley Matthews' first single, "Big-Town Boy," was a big hit in Canada in 1964 but peaked at only #104 in the US. "Big Town Boy" and other songs by Shirley Matthews are included on the CD Where The Girls Are, Vol. 4.
- "Poor Side Of Town" topped the charts for Johnny Rivers in 1966 and was also a chart hit for Al Wilson in 1969.
- "When I Fall In Love" by the Lettermen was previous a hit for Etta James (1961) and was later a hit for Donny Osmond (1973), Natalie Cole (1988), and Celine Dion & Clive Griffin (1993).
- "Downtown" topped the charts for Petula Clark in 1965 and was later a hit for Dolly Parton (1984). Both Allan Sherman (1965, as "Crazy Downtown") and Mrs. Miller (1966) did parodies of this song.
- "Boston 'My Home Town'" by Lynn, Massachusetts-born rocker Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon was the B-side song of the 1960 hit "Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy."
